Top 8 Places to Eat Pho in Hanoi’s Old Quarter (Authentic & Highly Rated)

Whether you’re a homesick expat or a flavor-hunting traveler, these Indian restaurants in Hanoi are the real deal. Let’s start with our favorite. No contest.

Kadhai Indian Restaurant Hanoi

We have one word for this restaurant. Home.

Indian Restaurants in Hanoi

That’s exactly what Kadhai felt like. I have been eating Indian food in this restaurant everytime i visit Vietnam. The vibe, the people, the smells coming from the kitchen. Everything felt real. And that’s rare.

Their butter chicken? On another level. Creamy but still packed with spice. Balanced. Not sweet. The way it’s meant to be. And the garlic naan? Warm soft edges slightly crisp perfect to scoop up every last drop.

We tried the dal makhani too and it was legit. Smoky. Slow-cooked. Comfort in a bowl. Like your auntie made it after yelling at you for not eating enough.

The service is warm fast and they’ll happily suggest what to try if you’re stuck. We met the owner too—kind guy who clearly cares about every dish.

Go once and you’ll be back again. Probably the next day.

Namaste Hanoi

Namaste is classy. Real classy. When you walk in you’re greeted like royalty and seated in this beautiful deep-toned room with Indian art and soft music playing.

The menu is massive (like overwhelming massive) but take your time. It’s worth reading through. Their thali platter? A full tour of India on a plate. And the paneer tikka—it’s smoky melty magic.

It’s a little on the expensive side compared to other spots in Hanoi but hey. You’re getting a full experience here. Not just food.

Perfect for when your parents visit. Or a date you wanna impress.

Grills & Gravy

Modern Indian. But not weird.

Indian Restaurants in Hanoi

This place has found a way to make traditional Indian dishes feel new without ruining them. Their tandoori chicken was juicy with this perfect slightly-burnt edge that’s just… addictive.

They do a killer masala fries too. Sounds odd maybe but it works. Really works.

The vibe is young and relaxed good for groups or even solo with a cold Kingfisher in hand. Don’t miss their chicken biryani it’s spiced right not overdone and comes steaming to the table.

Small place tho. So maybe book first.

Spice India

Tiny joint. Big love.

Indian Restaurants in Hanoi

Spice India is family-run and it shows. From the warm hello at the door to the way they check if your food’s okay without being annoying. It just feels right.

We tried their mango curry and were honestly shocked. Sweet spicy rich. Something different and delightful. The rogan josh was bold too meaty full of flavor without being greasy.

It’s not flashy. No marble floors or fancy menus. But who cares. Food > decor.

You’ll come back. Promise.

Zaika Restaurant

Zaika’s that one place you almost walk past—but shouldn’t. It’s small modern clean and smells amazing the second you walk in.

We started with samosas and they were crunchy pockets of joy. Not oily. Packed tight. The dal tadka came next and it tasted like something straight from a North Indian roadside dhaba (in the best way).

Chole bhature was a winner too. Light puffed bread not heavy or chewy.

It gets busy tho. Especially on weekends. So call ahead if you hate waiting like we do.

Simple spot. Great spice.

Dalcheeni

If Kadhai is comfort—Dalcheeni is elegance. This place is all about fine dining Indian style. The lights are low the mood is soft and you feel like you’re at a private dinner in Delhi’s elite circles.

We ordered the lamb rogan josh and dum biryani. Both came out beautifully presented. Not just pretty but powerfully flavored too.

Their menu leans toward North Indian classics done the “royal” way. Slow cooked. Aromatic.

This is the spot you go to when you wanna dress up a little eat slow and savor every bite.

It’s not cheap. But hey. You deserve it.

Tandoor Restaurant

Tandoor is also a great choice for Indian food in Hanoi. Especially popular with tourists and business travelers.

It’s in the Old Quarter so it gets a lot of foot traffic. Still the food holds up.

Their garlic naan deserves its own paragraph. So much flavor. So much butter. We used it to scoop up a creamy chicken korma and man. Heaven.

Some dishes are toned down in spice we noticed—but you can always ask for more heat.

Reliable. Accessible. Good portions.

Little India Hanoi

This place is easy to miss. But don’t. It’s a hidden treasure.

Small space. Big flavors. The kind of Indian food you eat quickly because your mouth refuses to wait.

We got the chana masala and aloo gobi. Classic dishes done very right. Spiced deep. Balanced. And served with love.

If you’re near Hoan Kiem Lake and craving something comforting this is your stop.

Bonus—it’s budget friendly too.

Final Words

So yeah. Hanoi’s Indian food game? Strong.

We didn’t expect much when we first landed. But now—we can’t stop eating. From cozy corner joints to candle-lit fine dining to fusion food that surprisingly works, there’s something for everyone here.

Start with Kadhai Indian Restaurant. That’s your golden ticket. Then work your way through the list depending on your mood budget spice cravings or company.

Just don’t forget to order naan. Always.
